Introduction
Character education has gained significant attention in recent years as educators, parents, and policymakers recognize the importance of fostering moral development in students. School-based character education programs have been implemented in schools across the globe with the aim of promoting positive character traits such as honesty, responsibility, respect, and empathy among students. However, the effectiveness of these programs in enhancing students’ moral reasoning skills remains a subject of debate.
This thesis aims to investigate the influence of school-based character education programs on student moral reasoning skills. By examining the existing literature, identifying gaps in the research, and conducting a study of our own, we seek to contribute to the understanding of the relationship between character education programs and moral reasoning development.
