Introduction:
Neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and Huntington’s disease, are characterized by the progressive degeneration of neurons in the central nervous system. These disorders often lead to cognitive decline, motor dysfunction, and ultimately, disability and death. Currently, there is no cure for neurodegenerative disorders, and available treatments only manage symptoms without addressing the underlying mechanisms of neurodegeneration.
Antioxidants have gained attention in recent years for their potential neuroprotective effects. These compounds have been shown to neutralize harmful free radicals, reduce oxidative stress, and protect neurons from damage. While the exact mechanisms of action are still being elucidated, there is growing evidence to suggest that antioxidants could be a promising therapeutic approach for neurodegenerative disorders.
This thesis aims to investigate the neuroprotective effects of antioxidants and their potential application in the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders. By reviewing the existing literature, conducting experimental studies, and analyzing clinical data, this research seeks to contribute to our understanding of the role of antioxidants in neuroprotection and explore their therapeutic potential in the management of neurodegenerative disorders.
